Safety Guidelines for Daiwa Rabin

For the safe and proper use of rubber grinding stones

Precautions for Use

  • Use below the specified maximum rotation speed.(Specified on the product packaging or the included red label or attached sticker.)
  • Rubber grinding stones are generally heavier than other elastic stones. When substituting, pay special attention to differences in maximum rotation speed.
  • Even below the maximum rotation speed, excessive pressure may cause deformation, uneven wear, or other damage leading to accidents. Due to rubber elasticity, uneven wear may cause more runout than other stones; stop use and correct it before continuing.
  • Inspect the grinding stone before mounting. Do not use if there are cracks, chips, deformities, or bent shafts.
  • When starting tools or machines, stand in a safe position, rotate at low speed to check runout, and ensure proper operation.
  • Do not apply excessive force to the grinding stone or workpiece due to rubber elasticity.
  • For large contact areas, high loads, or continuous use, excessive heat may reduce rubber strength, causing breakage or accidents. Ensure proper heat dissipation and cooling.
  • Always dress the stone before use and balance it with the machine.
  • During use, if shape distortion or runout occurs due to imbalance, dress the stone again.
  • Store stones flat, avoid bending or immersing in water, and protect from UV, high heat, humidity, sunlight, radiation, and ozone. Keep in a ventilated, cool, dark indoor area.

Operator Safety Measures

  • Use only inspected and well-maintained grinders or tools. Use designated stone guards.
  • Do not use if the stone does not fit the tool or machine.
  • Install stones correctly; for flat types, do not overtighten the flange.
  • Dust generation is lower than other stones, but always wear a dust mask, safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, and cover exposed skin. Close sleeves and hems.
  • Dust may generate sparks. Use dust collectors and ensure sufficient ventilation.
  • Mount shafted stones properly. For overhang types, strictly adhere to the specified length and insert fully.
  • During trial runs or operation, no one should stand near the rotating stone or machine.
  • Operate only after receiving necessary training, such as free grinding stone certification.

*About Maximum Rotation Speed
Maximum rotation speed is the safe limit when rotating the rubber stone without load. Exceeding this can cause breakage.
Under load, the effective maximum speed may be lower.
We recommend starting at around half the maximum speed and adjusting.
Maximum rotation speed varies with type, shape, and shaft size. Check the box or red label for the specified speed.

Important

ncorrect use may cause rubber stones to break, resulting in serious injury or accidents. Always use below the maximum rotation speed.

When distributing stones, clearly indicate the maximum rotation speed and provide the enclosed safety guide and SDS to operators. Ensure they are fully informed before use.
